About Maybe
Maybe Stewart (they/he) is a neurodiverse multi-disciplinary theatre artist, writer, tarot reader, and social activist that lives with multiple disabling conditions. They have built their career on being the back-pocket emergency call technician for nearly any position in a given production. Their steady presence and well-rounded skillset have set them apart, and they consider it the greatest compliment to witness a theatre full of stressed artists and technicians relax during tech week because they "know they're in good hands."
As a theatre artist, they have over a decade of experience in the Phoenix valley theatre scene, and have worked with nearly every local theatre company, from community to professional and union productions. They are most well-known for their Stage Management, Directing, Devised Movement Choreography, Lighting Design, Sound Design, and Playwriting. Since 2022, they have been incredibly blessed and grateful to act as the Stage Manager and Lead Designer for nearly every production on the KAX Stage at The Herberger Theater Center (HTC) -- where they just so happened to join a little company named Order Chaos Theater Company during their first season, and have been proud to call OCTC their home company ever since. They are also beyond grateful to currently be acting as the Lunch Time Theater Technical Artistic Consultant for HTC, and as part of the Board of Executive Directors for All Queer Shakespeare, where they are a founding member of the core company. Some of their other favorite past theatrical credits include: Stage Management/Sound Design for S#!TFACED SHAKESPEARE and Stage Management for I AM MY OWN WIFE at BLK BOX PHX; Co-Director/Devised Movement Director/Performance Stage Manager for SENSE & SENSIBILITY at Southwest Shakespeare Company; Interim Associate Artistic Director for Aside Theatre Company from 2017-2018.
As a playwright, Maybe has had their plays reach both local and national audiences. Their most consistently seen work is their full-length play ALL THE WRONG PLACES, which began its development journey at The Phoenix Theatre Company and reached as far as a featured reading in NYC Pride -- though they are still hungry to see a full production. Locals may also know them for JUST BE (commissioned and produced by The Bridge Initiative) and BUT IN OURSELVES (co-written with Keach James Siriani-Madden and produced by Aside Theatre Company). They were honored to take part in the # AfterTheBans project curated by the late Alyson Mead with their monologue SURVIVAL, which was produced nationwide to raise funds for AFAB individuals with limited access to reproductive health resources. Maybe's non-theatrical writing has filled nearly every niche, from running a widely popular writing blog in high school to writing a self-published Amazon best-seller under one of their pen names. Currently, they are running the ActualTrashFire Patreon, where they share their roughest drafts while preparing to seek traditional publishing as a Fantasy novelist.
